As we wrap up the summer at our HQ, we wanted to recognize our outstanding interns – Claire Buchanan and Karina Latsko – for all the extraordinary work they have contributed over the past three months. Claire created Business Development ISO based Standard Operating Procedures, curated social media posts, researched industry associations, and compiled a list of operations commendations. Karina analyzed over 80,000 data points building models to enhance our ability to bid more accurately on contracts, created data analysis models to improve proposal estimating, and supported several bid efforts by analyzing workload data.
Last week, Karina was able to fly to our HQ in Atlanta to learn more about potential opportunities within the company going forward, as well as meet all the people she has been working with virtually. After her office visit, the Business Development team went on an outing to watch the Braves play the Mets at Truist Park – and it was a Braves win! We had such an exhilarating day getting to finally meet Karina in person. We wished Claire was able to join us, but she has been busy supporting sorority recruitment and gearing up for her last year at Georgia Tech!
Pegasus’ Summer Intern Program is off to a great start with two accomplished students supporting business development, marketing and data analytics projects.
Intern
Claire Buchanan
Claire Buchanan, our marketing intern is supporting the business development department and corporate marketing by researching and writing marketing materials, creating manuals, and editing and formatting layouts for key proposals. Claire is a rising senior at Georgia Tech and is majoring in business administration. She is also completing a concentration in strategy & innovation. Claire has previously worked at Infectious Disease Services of Georgia, where she developed a more efficient system to optimize patient flow and collaborate with doctors and nurses. She has also volunteered at Northside Hospital in the women’s health and child development departments. Claire was selected twice to be a recruitment leader for Georgia Tech Collegiate Panhellenic Council. In her free time, Claire enjoys cooking, crossword puzzles, and fashion.
Intern
Karina Latsko
Karina Latsko is our summer data analyst intern. Her responsibilities include interpreting data and conducting research, determining data trends in contract performance, and combing data sets to create meaningful reports to help drive cost and performance efficiency . Karina is currently studying computational biology as a master’s student at the University of Pittsburgh, graduating in December 2022. Karina previously graduated from Butler University with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry in May 2021. Karina has worked as an undergraduate researcher, where she performed statistical analysis on data to determine the clinical significance of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus), having her work published in the Journal of General Virology. Karina has also worked as an operations manager for Cranberry Township Waterpark where she implemented a new system to track and rate staff members to improve customer satisfaction. Karina was also a Division I athlete in Women’s Lacrosse for 5 years, and was featured in the ACC Network documentary All Access with Pitt Women’s Lacrosse. In her free time, Karina enjoys doing the daily crossword puzzle, coaching youth lacrosse, and walking her dog, Stanley.
Wreaths Across America
Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, the mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 2,100 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.
2020 is the 6th annual year that Pegasus has contributed to the program. Pegasus donated 50 wreaths this year to the Georgia National Cemetery to help meet their goal of 16,100 wreaths.
Toys for Tots
In 1991, the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation was created at the behest of the Marine Corps. Their basic mission is to collect new unwrapped toys and through the gift of a new toy, help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America's less fortunate children.
Pegasus Support Services is honored to participate for the 4th year. Last year, we were able to donate over 200 toys to those children in need. Our goal for 2022 is 300 toys!
Cherokee County Homeless Veterans
The Cherokee County Homeless Veteran program has been around for about 7 years and supports homeless veterans and those near homelessness in the Cherokee County area. The program is completed staffed by volunteers and is active throughout the year helping veterans and their families.
Pegasus Support Services found out about this local program and decided to help 20 families that the program sponsors by donating Kroger gift cards. Our corporate office also collected coats to donate to their annual winter coat drive where their goal was 1,000 coats.
ESGR Statement of Support
The intent of the Statement of Support program is to increase employer support by encouraging employers to act as advocates for employee participation in the military. Supportive employers are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the Nation’s Guard and Reserve units.
Pegasus Support Services has signed a statement of support and pledged that:
We full recognize, honor, and comply with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act.
